C. Priorities

Developing basic and transversal skills using innovative methods.

Enhancing digital integration in learning, teaching, training and youth work at various levels.

In order to choose the priorities of this project we considered the main difficulties and needs our schools have been facing recently.
On the one hand, we realized that our students needed to improve their basic and transversal skills (reading, writing, maths, English, ITC, entrepreneurship and team work) and that the methodology we have been using lately has not helped us to get the desired results.

On the other hand, we consider the usage of the ITC is an essential skill that either students or teachers must acquire and integrate in their daily work. Some teachers are “afraid” to use ITC resources in their classes simply because they do not know how to use them. In this era of technology, it is our responsibility to provide our students with the ITC knowledge that will give them the chance to have a better future in Europe.  That is why we decided that we needed to work on an innovative project in which the usage of the ITC would mean a key point either for teachers –who will have to learn to use the digital resources and programmes to teach their students- or for the students – who will develop their ITC skills while carrying out the activities of the project. We especially want to focus on the usage of Open Educational Resources (OER). We will use e-twining (to share, discuss, show the information), different programmes (like “word”, “Adobe”, “paint”…etc) to write and ilustrate the articles and other websites (like Issuu, Calameo, Openzine, paper...) to make our online newspaper  as well as different electronic devices to take photos, videos…

Creating a newspaper will allow us – teachers, students and the community- to work on different topics. Writing the different parts of the newspaper will provide us with the perfect frame to develop our students’ basic and transversal skills. In addition to this, the management of the newspaper and advertising will awake our students’ entrepreneurship and boost their communication skills. By working in teams we all improve our reciprocal learning, increasing our English language competences in a practical way. This project will provide us with the innovative teaching methods that will motivate our students to enhance their basic and transversal skills. The usage of New Technologies and international teamwork not only will be the lure of the project, but also the key to reach our priorities.
